What I Do
I make films, develop ideas and find stories for television, events, websites and social media.
My background is in authored documentary television, but I bring the same curiosity, editorial judgement and instinct for storytelling to institutions, businesses, cultural projects and original ideas.
Television + Documentary
I direct, produce and shoot documentaries and factual series for broadcasters and independent production companies. My work has appeared on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, National Geographic, Discovery+, A&E and CNN. My experience spans long-form observational films, popular factual television and difficult-access documentaries, with an emphasis on character-led storytelling and complex editorial subjects.
I work across the whole process — developing stories and relationships, securing access, researching subjects in depth, interviewing contributors and specialists, directing and filming on location, and shaping the narrative through the edit.

Films + Creative Projects
I develop and make commissioned films and creative projects for schools, universities, charities, cultural institutions, businesses and brands. I bring documentary thinking to these commissions — finding the human story rather than simply delivering a message.
Projects range from focused short films to ambitious series, campaigns, events and wider creative projects combining different disciplines. Through Freedom Road Films, I can assemble and lead the right team, providing the creative direction and production structure to take a project from conception to delivery.
My work has included films and creative development for Wellington College, I Shouldn’t Be Alive for YouTube, specialist schools for autistic children, and A Lake District Farm Shop, exploring the people behind Tebay Services

Ideas & Creative Development
Not every project begins with a film in mind. Sometimes there’s an extraordinary person, an unfamiliar world, a problem to solve or an opportunity that hasn’t yet found its form. I research, investigate and develop original ideas, looking for the characters, stories, connections and possibilities that can turn an interesting subject into something compelling.
Over my career, I’ve originated and helped develop television documentaries and series generating more than £4 million in production income through commissions for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. From the initial idea through research, access and development to securing a commission, I know how to turn a promising concept into a project that gets made.
That experience extends beyond television. An idea might become a documentary, a campaign, an exhibition, an event or an entirely new proposition. I can originate an idea, develop an existing concept or provide independent creative consultancy — whether as a freelancer or through Freedom Road Films.
